Youth holds space for innocence and gentleness beyond recognition. In a world where we are taught that we must “grow up” we lose the ease with which we love one another. With age compassion often fades and regaining any semblance of it leads us on a path to rediscover ourselves. Kindness and compassion are treasures of humanity and are often lost in misgivings.
We should strive to keep our childlike ability to love unconditionally and be kind although there are those who would choose to be unkind to us. It can be a difficult feat to remind ourselves to not let the despair and cruelty of others change us, however, it is a worthy mission to aim for.
Swing child without fear
Knowing for all your life, love is here.
Take your bound and leap for the moon.
I know surely you’ll reach it soon.
Remember love and kindness are not shameful,
Though this world may turn you fearful.
Fear of loving openly
Is a prison where you ought not be.
Pain is real and palpable,
But hope can carry you through it all.
Please never forget your childlike glow.
Child responds, “I’ve already forgotten though.”
