Pen to paper,
I write diligently.
If you’d only listen to me.
I don’t tell fables
Wrapped in fantasy and lore.
I turn the tables
And write of so much more.
Reality is riddled in story
And lessons wrote out to learn.
Like how to live most freely
‘Til the day you are trapped in an urn.
Princesses exist, its true,
And princes and heroes do too.
Stories of self-sufficiency are few
While stories of heroes surround you.
So nearly in every tale
You’ll find we’re saved by another.
But I wish that we would regale
That the I is as valuable as each other.
To be your own hero or heroine
As much as you would save a stranger,
So our children can learn that here on in
They don’t need a hero for life’s dangers.
