Manhood

Your smile, halfhearted.

Your joy, departed.

Seemingly despondent,

Rarely responsive.

Masculine figure,

Emotions disfigured.

Societal repression,

Your joy in recession.

Hollow-hearted stride.

Smiling to save pride.

Don’t you dare cry,

“Gay,” that’s why.

Breaking internal?

That’s manhood eternal.

Speak so poetic?

Again, “gay,” rhetoric.

Wounded by a friend?

Dirt, rub it in.

Love, romance, and fun?

Be ready to run.

Manhood, so toxic…

I really doubt it.

The real problem is,

Societal demands.
