She dreamt daily of affection.
Splayed across her bed,
Her limbs tossed in every direction,
Face to pillow, as her heart bled.
Counting her breaths to hold back tears,
She found herself faced with reality.
Her chest heaved, overtaken in her fears,
Brown eyes flooding,never feeling worthy.
The distant sound of barking dogs
And the way the shadows move above,
Turned her tears into heavy sobs
As she concluded she may never know love.
Quickly she became inconsolable
and she was always alone you see.
So she reasoned she was unloveable
And I tell you now, she is me.
