May a love for me you never learn
Over distance given and time turned.
Before you I stood with heart in hand
On which the mercy of your love would never land.
I knelt at your feet in a beggars stance.
Yet, my way you would never glance.
Call me your friend, yet, don’t call me at all.
And over time my feelings would fall.
Now, with my illusions dissolved
And my confidence resolved,
No longer shall I kneel, ever, at all.
I brush myself off to now stand tall.
My heart learned to love you no more.
A feeling I never thought possible before.
So may a love for me you never learn,
For, from you, my heart has finally been turned.
